Lakeview Luxe
INTRODUCTION
I have waiting to share this project for months and I am SO excited that the day is finally here. We’re breaking this home tour into multiple parts so we can really dive into the details.
When this client came to us, they had just moved out of a contemporary condo in a high-rise and bought a transitional house in Lakeview. The house was absolutely stunning but it needed some unique touches to marry their contemporary style with the transitional details of the house and make it feel more like their own home. We incorporated new wallpaper, furniture, built-ins, window treatments and light fixtures throughout the house to add some drama and make this home feel more unique for them.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
With every project, we begin the design process by going over design details with the clients to understand their personal style so that our design will fully reflect them. The moodboard for this project showcased a marriage of contemporary style and transitional details with pops of bold blue accents amidst a neutral palette and warm metals and wood tones. With furnishings, we wanted to introduce classic profiles with sculptural, unique twists.
BEFORE
Today, we’re focusing on the living room, powder room and formal entryway.
THE REVEAL
To set the tone for the house, we pulled in a dramatic console table at the entryway underneath the artwork. We styled it with some sophisticated accessories and a sculptural wire stool.
In the formal living room, we really wanted to create a statement. We started by designing custom built-ins on either side of the fireplace. Black metal strapping suspends floating wooden shelves, tying into the linear language in the fireplace and adding some contrast to the space. The base cabinets have a grey mirror front to add a glamorous touch with a moody vibe. We installed custom ripple-fold drapery on a ceiling track that meets in the corner and continues in one piece along the front wall to create a modern look while providing privacy from the street. For seating, we incorporated an extra long L-shaped sectional that opens up to backless pieces towards the fireplace to provide plenty of seating while still creating a modern, clean look for the space that speaks to the drapery behind it. Across from the sofa, two custom leather and wood chairs round out the seating and add some contrast to the room. Between the sofa and chairs, we installed nine round side tables of various heights and materials to take the place of a coffee table and add a sculptural, playful element the room. The tables allowed us to introduce transitional silhouettes and materials to the room, but the scattered, sculptural installation gives an edgy, modern feel to the space. Above the tables, we hung a modern, sculptural chandelier to draw the eye up without competing with the tables.
This is a big project, so we’ll have at least one more part to the home tour once the custom dining table is delivered next month! Stay tuned for more!
